Dangerous Game Changer

The thought of hunting Africa again was more than appealing, bordering on irresistible. I’d been told by a fellow hunter, “…once she grabs you, Africa is reluctant to let go,” and he was spot on. Vivid memories of Africa have been with me ever since, and the only question was, when I would return - not “if”.

On my previous safari we had come upon a mature Cape buffalo bull—a loner, a Dagga Boy —lying in a mostly dry creek bed, mud covered, minding his own business, and not the least bit interested in ours. When the old boy spotted the PH and me, he got to his feet to have a look at the morning’s intruders. His nose high in the air to get a better sense of what we were did little to satisfy his curiosity.
