Delta adds Taiwan back to network

SKYTEAM MEMBER DELTA AIR LINES will further expand its Asia network next summer with the launch of a daily nonstop service from Seatde (SEA) to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE), starting June 6, subject to government approval.

This marks Delta’s inaugural nonstop flight to Taipei from the US and the first Delta aircraft operation to TPE since 2017 via Narita International Airport in Japan. The carrier will deploy one of its latest-technology Airbus A330-900 neo aircraft on the 13-hour westbound, 12-hour eastbound service from Seatde to Taipei.

The A330-900 neo seats 29 passengers across a 1-2-1 configuration in Delta One business class, 28 in Premium Select and 224 in regular economy class.

Seattle continues to serve as a key gateway for Delta’s operations across the Pacific, which - with the addition of TPE - feature four nonstop trans-Pacific destinations, inclusive of existing routes to Incheon (ICN), Tokyo (HND) and Shanghai (PVG).

SIA and PAL ink codeshare deal

SIA will also codeshare on PAL’s flights from Manila to 27 destinations within the Philippines, while PAL will codeshare on SIA’s flights to six destinations in Europe - Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Milan, Paris, Rome and Zurich.

These European codeshare sectors will be rolled out progressively across PAL and SIA sales channels, as well as travel agents, over the coming weeks.

The codeshare services to Copenhagen and Milan will represent a historical milestone - the first-ever air links to the Danish capital and the Italian commercial hub by a Philippine carrier.

Both airlines will also explore an expansion of the codeshare agreement to include SIA’s flights to additional points in Europe, as well as destinations in Australia, India, New Zealand and South Africa.

Within the Philippines, SIA is placing its code on PAL services to Bacolod, Basco, Busuanga, Butuan, Cagayan De Oro, Calbayog, Catarman,
