Passivhaus is the highest standard for energy-efficient homes, with a set of rigorous requirements that many self-builders voluntarily aim to meet. While the Passivhaus standard has pushed cutting-edge technologies to the fore, achieving certification can be difficult but the benefits it offers can potentially change how you think about living in a home. Building in this way will also add to the overall cost of a project but it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t add these energy-efficient concepts into your renovation and self-build project — in fact, quite the opposite is true.
