Meet the Jamaican winner of the 2023 Commonwealth Short Story Prize
My foray into writing began when I was an adult. While I was exposed to writing at primary school, my brother was more successful in writing than I) and challenged myself to understand my strengths: What was I good at? What excited me? The answer was writing. I began publishing my work, winning a few awards along the way. The culmination of the journey has been me winning the Commonwealth Short Story Prize 2023, both for the Caribbean region and globally.
