REVS RESTORE PROJECT LAUNCHED
REVS-Limiter, the non-profit classic car group led by Reverend Adam Gompertz, announced its first community restoration project – a 1975 Land Rover Series 3. The idea was that people could work on the vehicle together during REVS Restore restoration weekends, but that such gatherings could be also used as a platform to highlight the importance of talking about mental health and wellbeing.
“For a lot of people, especially blokes, it’s easier to start talking when you’re working on something with somebody else,” Adam explained to CCB. “Sometimes, trying to talk to someone face-to-face can be quite hard, but when you’re beside them working on something, it’s easier.”
By July the engine was running for the first time in years, and before long the vehicle was being test driven on the Bicester site, where the restoration weekends take place. The biggest highlight came in September though, when the Land Rover enjoyed a week on display in the famous rotunda of the Royal Automobile Club in Pall Mall – a great endorsement for the project.
MG TOPS THE CHARTS
January saw MG top the UK sales charts for the first time in the marque’s 100-year history. The company’s current flagship SUV, the HS, was the country’s best-selling new car in January, with almost 3500 registered – propelling the HS to an overall market share of 2.6 per cent.
In total, 7433 new MGs hit the road in January, putting it ahead of major names like Nissan, Peugeot, Renault, Skoda, Hyundai and MINI.
