What captured your interest in art?

I remember flicking through an art book when I was in Year Five and seeing one of John Olsen’s big br ight abstract works. I was totally captivated and moved by the piece, and loved the bold, br ight colours. Since then, I have always been drawn to, and had a passion for, abstract art.

How would you describe your art?

I predominantly work with acrylic on canvas to produce abstract and still-life pieces as well as landscapes.

How would you describe your artistic practice?

Most of the time my practice is planned and thought out. I will sketch a vignette I have seen and then devise a colour palette that complements the piece and the feelings I want to emote. At other times, it can be spontaneous and intuitive.

What inspires you?

Usually little things: a vase of flowers, fruit sliced on a plate, the lovely shadows that are cast across a room dur ing golden hour.

Where can people buy your art?

Via my website at allysiejka.com as well as a couple of lovely stockists, such as Bungalow Trading Co and MYND Inter iors. Price guide From $280.
