The holy grail of dream project stereotypes must be the rust-free, vicar-owned blue oval that’s been used only for trips to church and to dotingly tend to local parishioners’ needs. Sadly, most of us end up making do with repairing a rusty shell before attention can be turned to any hellraising powertrain. Not Luke Sumner though, who not only picked up this Mk1 Fiesta project when he was still only 14, but lucked out in finding a near-perfect, low owner shell that began life with a man of the cloth.
“It’s dad’s influence,” laughs Luke, when we ask how a 14-year-old lands a Mk1 Fiesta as a first car. “I’ve grown up with old Fords around me.”
