The Lexicon of Scooters #25
When Armando Pastorelli emerged from Innocenti’s training school for mechanics he probably expected to be assigned to a dealership somewhere in his native Puglia in southern Italy; however, Innocenti had other ideas. In 1952 he was dispatched to England as part of Innocenti’s efforts to dominate the British market, being one of a small number of mechanics sent overseas where dealers would proudly proclaim the presence of factory-trained specialists in their workshops. Armando eventually found himself in Sheffield working for Dan Bradbury Motorcycles. By 1958 Armando had married Brenda, a local girl, and started a family. Scooters were at the height of their popularity and Armando decided to strike out on his own. This is how Armando’s Scooters was born, but the story of the dealer specials belongs to the Pastorelli boys, Giulio and Guido.
A new era
By the late 1970s Armando had seen the popularity of scooters rise and fall.
