Phil’s modern take on his classic Lambretta
After successfully downsizing and saving his business, Phil soon realised that he needed some kind of mechanical project to prevent him from going doolally during the lockdown-imposed isolation.
THE MAN
Phil, now 60, from Stafford, the principal town of the county of Staffordshire, began his scootering life back in the early 1980s as a member of the Stafford Scooter Club. His first scooter was a Vespa P200E which he passed his test on (the law at the time allowed provisional motorcycle licence holders to ride up to 250cc).
Phil got into the scooter scene through his love for Northern Soul and the strong connection the town had with both the scooters and the music, bypassing the usual ‘Revival Mod’ induction and becoming a Scooter Boy more akin to what the older lads of the area were at the
