Alcohol is not your friend

Look younger for longer

Alcohol is one of the fi rst things we consider cutting back on when our waistline needs a little honing and toning. But, for many of us, it can also be the first thing we turn to after a long, stressful day! Alcohol, however, isn't just a calorifi c way of letting our hair down – it can also affect how we look and feel.

Alcohol isn't metabolised (broken down and processed)metabolise alcohol depends on how often we drink, our diet, age, size, gender, whether we smoke and the time of day. The liver will continue to metabolise alcohol at the same, steady rate, no matter how much you drink. So if you drink lots of alcohol over a short period of time, you will become intoxicated quickly and stay intoxicated (with a high level of alcohol in your blood) until the liver can ‘catch up’. It's therefore recommended that you don't drink more than one alcoholic drink (that's 1.5oz of spirits, 5oz of wine or 12oz of beer) per hour, to help manage this.
