LITTLE GOLD STUDIOS

From the outside, you might mistake Little Gold Studios for any of the retired warehouses that litter Brunswick’s old textile district. Inside, however, there’s no missing it: the former sewing factory is an artisanal oasis. Brimming with stationery makers, lighting designers, hand letterers and a trove of others, the studio is a touch of Brooklyn’s Williamsburg in a sleepy Melbourne backstreet, its hanging gardens and light-filled windows a cornucopia of colour in a suburb of concrete. Ask the residents what they like best about it, though, and they’ll tell you something more down to earth: each other. That, and Diesel, the staffy-in-residence.
