With the top half of the engine stripped, it was time to start on the rest of it, beginning with the front. My first job was to remove the big bolt in the centre of the pulley; the bar on the end of the socket took a few blows with a 2lb hammer to shift it. These pulley bolts aren’t normally that tight, but it was soon off and I could tap the pulley off the end of the crank.
