Some people go to work in a shirt and tie, others in their pants, but I am often found loitering in leathers. I'd dread to think about exactly how long I've spent in my Racing Absolute V1 suit over the last few years, but the answer is a lot… and then some. There are twothey're also my favourite of all time. You don't always get what you pay for in life but having been subjected to many lesser suits over the few decades I've been doing this gig, it's fair to say I know a good set when I see them… and these are the crème de la crème. Why wouldn't they be? They are essentially hand-medowns from the MotoGP paddock, sporting many of the features and designs you see in the suits worn by factory riders like Marc Marquez, who's arguably their best crash tester of all time. On that note, I haven't actually crashed in this set, but I have in the last three sets of Astars leathers I've had in recent times, so I'm familiar with how well they hold up, and would expect that if it came to it, these would impress me in an equally pleasing way. Like my previous GP Tech suit, these are Tech-Air compatible, which is hugely important to me. I've had two highsides and lowside with the airbag system, which has undoubtedly saved me from more sinister injuries than I experienced on every use. It also brings me massive amounts of reassurance, knowing the leathers have a credible airbag system fitted that performs when it needs to. The airbag zips in and out of the suit, displaying on the forearm whether it's engaged, what state the batteries in, or whether there's a problem to be investigated. I could bang on all day about it, but I'll park it for now and get back to the leathers.
