LONGTERMERS
With my time on the all-new 2023 BMW S 1000 RR coming to an end, it's a good moment to take stock and reflect on the past five months that I've had one of motorcycling's masterpieces in my garage. I openly admit to not doing half the things I had planned and hoped to do with the Beemer due to… well, basically, life. I could be accused, therefore, of failing in my commitment to you, the reader, to really get under the S 1000 RR‘s skin and find out the things that a few days on a press launch or group test can't show.
However, that's exactly the point, because while it is true that I do live a very charmed and privileged life by virtue of being able to ride all the latest and greatest motorcycles, it is still a job that, along with my other jobs, needs to be balanced with life.
In other words, actual play time on ‘my’ regular ride is just as(mainly for ease of parking), a handful of commutes to the office, and one afternoon on my local test route going a bit mad in order to dive into the electronic set-up.
