We are spoiled for choice when it comes to gorgeous, thin laptops with big screens. Four months ago, for instance, I reviewed the LG gram SuperSlim (see issue 347, p58), which costs £1,549 from Currys, and while that has a 15.6in OLED screen to the 16in of Acer’s Swift Edge, it also weighs 990g rather than 1.2kg.

But let’s not be unreasonable. The Edge is hardly portly, and its matte black aluminium alloy chassis will gain many admiring glances from passersby. One reason for this
