As any new parent can tell you, the first few months of a baby’s life require tons of adjustment. The changes come fast. But if you’re singer-songwriter Kimberly Perry, change is starting to feel like old news. She’s getting used to figuring things out on the fly.

“I had no idea what to anticipate,” she says with a weary but still-beaming laugh, speaking just a few weeks after the birth of her first child. “But I’m a quickly learning every day.”

Perry is the former frontwoman and primary songwriter of the chart-topping sibling trio The Band Perry, who most notably scored a 7x Platinum Number One with 2010’s country gothic “If I Die Young.” But following a few more hits, and a brief foray into pop, a new season has begun
