Scratch-building ‘The Crooked House’ by David Wright

A few years ago, a group of us from Burton Railway Society visited this unique drinking house. It started with a book I had for Christmas, Strangest Pubs in Britain – and the best worldwide, where the ‘Crooked House’ featured both on the cover and inside. After seeing this, we decided that we must go on a pilgrimage to find it.

The memory of that day stayed with me, especially when we arrived at the pub to find a fancy dress party going on. We had dropped in on the ‘The Mad Hatter's Tea Party’, with the wonky pub creating the perfect backdrop.
