Sealed For Life

‘Get rid of the points and put electronic ignition on it’ is a phrase I read a lot of on Facebook groups.

I’ve got nothing against electronics in general or electronic or ignition in particular, but I really wish Yamaha had stuck with the points set up the DT250 made do with. But they didn’t, they fitted a Mitsubishi CDI system to the bike I’m restoring. But that’s alright, because everyone knows that Japanese electronics are world class.

That’s as maybe, but the system on my bike refused to produce the tiniest flicker of a spark, no matter how much I grunted while kicking it over. There are two straightforward solutions to thisinstead of the electronic system. Naturally, I managed to come up with a third way.
