Music from old 78rpm records

On 11 August, the Internet Archive () was sued by a group of US record labels, including UMG Recordings, Capitol Records, Sony Music Entertainment and Arista Music, over its Great 78 Project (). This is an amazing collection of more than 440,000 digitised and restored versions of old 78rpm records (see screenshot below), made between 1898 and 1953. Converted from shellac with the help of archival audio company George Blood LP, the recordings include songs by Frank Sinatra, Billie Holliday, Louis Armstrong (as pictured above right), Bing Crosby and Nat King Cole, and were all believed to be in the public
