LIKE many fellow birdkeepers, I try to encourage many species of birds and insects into my small garden by growing a range of flowers and shrubs that provide food and shelter. I should add that I live in a village which has become very urban, with much development in the 38 years I have lived there. I now have 17 properties bordering mine.
