Who will win the streaming wars?

What’s happened?

Streaming giant Disney+ announced last week that two of its biggest new drama series – and – had been cancelled before they had even hit the screens. There’s nothing unusual about shows getting cancelled. Over the past year a slew of big-name streaming hits have been dropped, including (a fortnight ago) the widely-acclaimed Amazon Prime series. Equally, it’s not uncommon for shows to get green-lit and then dropped before production starts. But the fate of and, major global productions with gigantic budgets, is highly unusual. Filming on – a live-action had completed production in Canada.
