If you’re not a fan of the Fold5 (see p68), why not Flip? However you prefer your hinges, Samsung has you covered, and this fifth-generation clamshell smartphone is its most mature and practical model yet.
One big advantage of the Z Flip5 over the Z Fold5 is the price: it’s a huge £700 cheaper, and comes with 256GB of storage as standard, up from the Flip4’s 128GB. There’s also a 512GB option, with all sizes available in Mint, Graphite, Cream and Lavender, plus exclusive Grey, Blue, Green and Yellow finishes on Samsung’s website. Whichever colour you choose, you’ll only see it on the rear of the phone, since the front of the Galaxy Z Flip5 is almost entirely taken up by its enlarged outer display and camera housing.
■ Deft design
The expanded display isn’t all that’s new about the) and the Oppo Find N2 Flip (). It’s pleasing to use, with a nice snap-shut action. An IPX8 rating means it’s fully waterproof, but as before there’s no guarantee against dust intrusion. That’s par for the course among today’s folding phones.
