THE Yorkshire canary is primarily a posture canary, hence the single top perch in its show cage. On this perch it needs to be able to stand as nearly as possible to the desired position so that a judge can assess its overall exhibition qualities. I have previously covered the topic of gaining the correct position, so I would hope that the birds that we choose to exhibit have been bred with position in mind. A Yorkshire is noteworthy as a breed of canary in which position should be crucial to a bird’s chance of success on the show bench.
