Blood Pressure Drug Helps Preserve Beta Cell Function in Early T1D

he blood pressure drug verapamil—a calcium channel blocker that is also used to treat angina (chest pain) and arrhythmia (irregular heart rhythm)—was shown to help preserve pancreatic beta cell function in early type 1 diabetes, according to a study published in the journal JAMA.
