‘My style is understated with a bit of a twist’

A fter their second child, Bobby, was born, Jess May and her husband James realised their current home wasn't big enough for their growing family. ‘We just didn't have enough space,’ said Jess. ‘We were living in a three-bedroom, 1930s semi nearby, which we'd done a certain amount to, but when we looked into extending, the money didn't add up. It wasn't worth ploughing all that money in, and we'd be limiting ourselves in the years to come.’

Deciding they'd be better off moving, Jess and James checked out several houses locally, but kept coming back to the same one. ‘I'd never wanted to live in a 1960s house particularly, but it just made sense for the space we could get, plus the potential to change it,’ Jess explains. ‘We were getting an extra bedroom, a garage, and a much bigger garden.
