When Jen and Mike Carter were looking for a new home in 2020, they initially dismissed this house as they didn't think it had much kerb appeal. But the couple decided to take a look anyway, as it ticked quite a few of their boxes. ‘We actually didn't live too far away from the house, so I knew the area. Both of our parents live really close by and there's a brilliant school nearby for Millie. I wasn't sure if it would work for us, though,’ Jen recalls. ‘But as soon as I walked through the door, I fell in love with it. I loved the wide-open entrance hall, the open-plan living space and modern kitchen, and I could see it had so much potential. I also knew we could make it our own and instantly had lots of ideas running around in my head.’
As the house had been modernised already, Jen and Mike didn't need to make any huge alterations, and they were lucky that there was a large fitted kitchen already in place. ‘Although I loved the kitchen, a tiny piece of me thought about replacing it
