A history of patriarchal societies has given women a childbearing role – getting pregnant and running a home being your only purpose.
‘There are deeply ingrained ideas and expectations linking women and motherhood that have been part of our society for millennia,’ says parenting expert, journalist and author Liat Hughes Joshi. ‘The world has changed relatively quickly to a point where we are much more than just either mothers or potential mothers and we have financial independence, but those ingrained ideas haven’t quite caught up
