BUDGERIGARS
SUNDAY, July 9, witnessed the inaugural national open show of the UK Budgerigar Club (UKBC), hosted at the Parrot Society's Summer Show at the Staffordshire County Showground.
The event had been meticulously planned for 18 months, since soon after the club's formation. Much of the format followed that of other exhibition budgerigar shows over the past 40 years. However, the UKBC management committee had introduced a number of innovative changes, and as a result the show's admin was far easier and straightforward, and crucially required fewer people.
Holding the event at the same time as the Parrot Society Summer Show offered a fairly central location. It also meant visitors could benefit from looking round the three PS event halls and do some shopping while
