Sport-loving Hae described her new boyfriend as ‘the sweetest guy’ in her diary, yet they kept their relationship secret from their parents.
Around December 1998, the sneaking around got too much and Hae broke things off.
Then, after leaving Woodlawn High School in Baltimore, Maryland, on 13 January 1999, Hae, 18, vanished.
Four weeks later, a passer-by found her body in a shallow grave in Leakin Park woods.
She’d been strangled, and Adnan, then 17, was arrested.
