Hopping off the school bus on 7 November 1997, Stevie Bellush, 13, arrived home to find her 23-month-old quadruplet siblings alone in the hall.

‘Where’s Mommy?’ she frowned.

One toddler was asleep, the rest wailing.

Then there was the blood.

Streaked across their faces and vests.

Stevie followed the trail into the kitchen, and found her mother, Sheila Bellush, 35, sprawled in the doorway.

A bullet hole in her cheek, throat slashed.

The toddlers’ tiny footprints tracked through the pooling blood and across the floor.
