illiam Robert Gibson from Newbiggin-by-the-Sea in Northumberland was a 21-year-old bricklayer when war broke out. In November 1914, he joined, at the same time as Chris Ramsey's great grandfather, and both sailed back to England for treatment at Portland Naval Hospital. The two men returned to Blandford training camp in April 1916.
