OUT 4 AUGUST SKY CINEMA, NOW
John Slattery directs his old mucker Jon Hamm in a comedy noir inspired loosely by real events and more obviously by . In place of William H. Macy we have a sandwich-shop-owning scumbag (Micah Stock), who decides the answer to his woes is to have two women with the same name (one his wife) bumped off. Low-key to a fault (modest tension, zero mystery), its trump card is the hook-up between Hamm’s police chief and witness Tina Fey. The reunion adds a wisecracking warmth to a film crawling with low lifes as unsavoury as Stock’s sarnies.
