ALTERNATIVES TO CONSIDER

BENETEAU FIRST 260 SPIRIT

Jeanneau and Beneteau have often built comparable boats. Beneteau’s equivalent of the Sun 2500 is the First 260 Spirit (and the successive variants), but it’s slightly heavier, narrower and higher.

The design of the Beneteau pre-dates the Jeanneau, having started life in 1994. Beneteau then used the same hull in several reincarnations: the Spirit became the First 25.7 in 2004, then the 25.7 made way a few years later for the backstay-less First 25 with its square-top mainsail.

In terms of the hull, accommodation and underwater profile, all the models are fundamentally the same.
