A First for speed

ou can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time. Anyway, it’s not terribly important; the key take home is that it’s tricky to keep people with widely different needs happy at the same time. Ask whoever is leading the government at the time of going to press. But all of this preamble brings me to the subject I’ve been skirting around; namely the cruiser/racer - that most alluring of yachts that tries to span the chasm between comfort and speed. Results have been mixed over the decades but, as often as not, the desire to produce a boat that is both fast yet comfortable has not been a disaster.
