THE Bluebell Railway has given the go-ahead for two overhauls to take place for its resident locomotive fleet, with the BulleidSociety’sLSWRB40-4-0TNo. 96 Normandy set for a return to steam after a near 20-year absence.
Once a regular performer on the railway’s Monday and Thursday shunts, which were at the time the only regular steam shuntingwas withdrawn on July 7, 2006, at the expiration of its last boiler certification and has been stored since. Although on occasion it has been pulled out of the sheds at Sheffield Park for display, such as during the LSWRthemed branch line event in March 2019, many enthusiasts and Bluebell supporters have hoped and requested to see the B4 steam again.
