125 Group amends Valenta plans

IN a change to its original plan, the 125 Group is to retro-fit a Valenta power unit to No. 43048, rather than No. 43044 as previously envisaged.

Multiple issues with No 43048, including some which manifested during a main line move from Butterley to Doncaster to turn No. 43089 in advance of the group’s inaugural tour on October 28, last year, have resulted in a decision being made to remove No. 43048 from traffic and transfer its VP185 power unit to No. 43044. The latter power car has a set of bogies which have a life of over 500,000 miles and its bodywork is in good condition, having been repainted into InterCity Executive livery at Neville Hill when it was acquired in 2021.
