Cranmore milk train could be here to stay long-term

FOLLOWING a successful appeal to cover the cost of transporting four wagons to the East Somerset Railway for a photographic charter, the train of six-wheeled milk tankers could now become a permanent fixture on the line.

While many freight service combinations have been recreated during preservation, the most notable perhaps being the Great Central Railway's mineral ‘Windcutter’ and box van rakes, milk trains have been notably absent, with no railway homing sufficient numbers to produce an authentically-sized rake.
