REVISITING BLIP MAGAZINE

Like many gamers who grew up in the Eighties, videogame magazines were as important to me as the games themselves. That monthly thrill of spotting the latest issue of Zzap!64 and CVG on the newsagent’s shelf and leafing through the pages has stayed with me. Holding an original copy of a favourite mag is a nostalgia rush but collecting them demands considerable physical space and so I’ve never had a complete collection of any publication.*

That’s until I stumbled across. I was actually searching for the old Tomy handheld tennis game of the same name but Ebay flashed up an image of an A5 sized mag with Albert from playing on the cover. I was understandably intrigued. So, I ordered it at $5 plus postage from the USA and was soon reading how Albert (actor Matthew Labyorteaux) was also a dab hand at and had come tenth in the national championships. Who knew?
