FIRE BRIGADE MODELS

Emergency vehicle model specialist Paul Slade of Fire Brigade Models produces a wide range of fire, ambulance and police models in 1/48 scale in resin and white metal, both as built models and unpainted kits. The earliest period of vehicles modelled are horse-drawn fire engines of the 19th century. Model FBM/OT3 is a horse-drawn Manual Pump, carrying five fire-fighters and pulled by two horses [1]. In the days before mechanical pumps, teams of men had to operate fire engines by working the pump handles up and down. The model sells for £130 built or £90 as a kit.

Model FBM/OT4 is. The first turntable ladders were produced in 1906 in Germany and could extend to 75ft. The turntable allowed the ladder to be rotated through 360 degrees and to be used either with or without the top of the ladder resting on a building. Firemen could direct a hose from the top and reach people that needed to be rescued. Again, the price is £130 built or £90 as a kit.
