new version of Oxford’s 1/76 scale Scammell Showtrac has been released in the livery of the now-lamented Carter’s Steam Fair . John and Anna Carter founded their steam fair in 1977 in Maidenhead using restored vintage fairground rides from the 1870s-1960s. After John’s death in 2000, younger members of the family continued to run the business, until their final tour last year. The model represents vehicle registered HTO 221, as owned by Carters, chassis number 6114, number six of eighteen of these short-wheelbase 4x2 ballast tractors built specifically for showground use.
