There were three generations living together at the large, rambling, rural house in Edgerton, Missouri.
The home belonged to elderly couple Russell and Shirley Denham. Russell, 82, had been in the US Air Force and had met British-born Shirley, 81, when he was working in England.
After their marriage in 1957 they had travelled the world, and the US, with Russell’s military career – then when he retired, they settled down in Edgerton.
Shirley had worked at the local bank for 20 years and they were both active within the church community.
