HEMP DON’T HURT

recent study conducted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) explored safety concerns related to feeding cattle compressed hemp, researchers came to the conclusion that consumers won’t be harmed if they consume cattle that was fed hemp seed cakes. David Smith, a member of Animal Metabolism-Agricultural Chemicals Research Unit in Fargo, North Dakota, explained in a USDA press release that "it would be very difficult for a human to consume enough fat from cattle fed with hemp seed cake to exceed regulatory guidelines for dietary THC exposure. From a food safety viewpoint, hempseed cake having low cannabinoid content can be a suitable source of crude protein and fiber in cattle feed while offering industrial hemp producers a potential market for this byproduct of hemp seed oil extraction.” The study also explained that hemp seed cake is “highly nutritious” and cited a June 2022 NDSU study that explained how it could become “a viable alternative feed source for cattle.”
