Which make the better gundogs, dogs or bitches?
Fran says: It all comes down to what suits the individual; some people get on better with dogs, others with bitches. If you have a bitch you must take into account that she will generally come into season twice a year and one may fall in the shooting season, which means losing her for at least three weeks. Some people say dogs are less complicated than bitches but in my experience every dog has a different personality and I adapt my handling and training to suit the individual.
