As in previous years, the calibre of entries in the 2023 Australian Interior Design Awards was impressive. If there was ever any concern that the pandemic would continue dampening the spirit of Australian design, this year's offering put an end to that. Projects were bold, but also displayed sensitivity and a modesty that speaks to a revitalized sense of confidence. Understated elegance revealed a keen grasp of materials, colour and light; and an emphasis on fine detailing was characteristic across all categories, regardless of typology, scale and location.
