When was this child photographed?

I bought this old photograph from an antiques stall in Brighton. It was unidentified and bore no written clues, comprising only the visual image and the printed mount. Here is how I dated and interpreted this attractive picture.

The appearance and dimensions of this professional card-mounted (CDV) – was prohibitively expensive. Cabinets gradually gained favour, eventually dominating popular studio photography of the 1890s/early 1900s. Outmoded by 1910, they became obsolete during the First World War.
