Raynaud’s reply
My sympathies to Brian Thorpe with his Raynaud’s or ‘white finger syndrome’. This can be debilitating as he describes and can affect the feet, too.
As a fellow sufferer I’d advise getting those heated gloves, but choose carefully. Some only heat the back of the hand. I’ve had a pair of Gerbings for some years now. The heated element goes right down to the fingertips. They’re well worth the money, and it’s lovely to feel the heat draining down into the fingers. They also cushion vibration. My Harley 1200 XL Custom shakes quite a bit. I’ve a pair get dressed, but it will extend your riding season well into the colder months. Raynaud’s can also hide other underlying medical issues, so would advise anyone to get that checked out. It’s a well-known side effect of some drugs, e.g. Beta-blockers and smoking. The main triggers for it are operating vibrating machinery, cold, and being tense – i.e. riding a motorcycle.
