THE B-WORD

I, like many of us, have read with interest the Brexit-inspired fiasco over shipping bikes (and presumably cars) in and out of the EU. Although I have signed the petition, I didn’t really think it applied to me as I prefer to ride my bike. I suspect many think the same.

However, following Richard Millington’s article in the February issue I realised it could very well apply to anyone travelling in the EU. Consider:

Several years ago whilst a group of us were on a bike holiday in southern France, one of the newest bikes died. The local dealers were all unable to help as the spare would take a fortnight or so to arrive from Germany, so his bike was shipped home without him, and he flew back. All covered by breakdown insurance. His bike tracker revealed that the
