10 best crops to GROW WITH KIDS

Growing your own food is one of the most rewarding activities you can do with children. Whether you have a small windowsill or acres of land, getting them involved helps them better understand and get enthused about where their own meals come from.

We often grow plants together as a family and I enjoy getting the kids’ friends involved, too. I love that it gets them away from their screens, outside into the fresh air, and teaches them the importance and process of growing.

As seeds germinate or when a plant is ready for harvest, you can see the excitement radiate from their faces. I also measure the crops to compare, for example, who has grown the longest carrot or tallest sunflower – adding the enjoyment of a little gentle competition,
