ROCK IDOL Resurrecting Roger Daltrey’s GS

The restoration of a GS Vespa isn’t a task to be undertaken lightly, but even if factory finish is required at least there are plenty of references to follow. However, what if the customer wants a restoration that reflects the machine at a very specific point in its history? What if the customer is Roger Daltrey and what if the only reference available is a grainy video clip of the machine on stage with Billy Idol in 1996? Welcome to the world of Aaron White, man behind the rebirth of this iconic machine.

My brief was to rebuild it as it looked during the 1996/7 Quadrophenia tour.

Stan: Okay Aaron, you’ve brought me down south to see what, dare I say it, looks like a pretty average Vespa GS restoration. What’s the story?

Aaron: There’s nothing average about this scoot, I’d say it’s iconic.

Stan: Go on...

This is the very GS used on stage by The Who on their 1996/7 Quadrophenia
