While flicking through Facebook one evening I noticed a link on the Welsh National Road Rally (WNRR) page with a message that said if you liked the WNRR, you might enjoy the South West Peninsula Spring Rally. The event page didn’t have much information, but the Somerset Advanced Motorcyclists (SAM) website held more answers. The format of the rally was to plot a route through the South West Peninsula using supplied locations. The award you achieved depended on the number of locations and clues you solved and consisted of bronze, silver, gold or the Land’s End Award. Along the way you had to find information based on clues given on the day. After firing off an email to the organiser to check that scooters were welcome, Neil and I enrolled and waited for the paperwork to be sent through. A week before the rally we received the locations via email and set out planning our routes. We sorted out a silver route and two bronze as backup. The day before the rally we headed down to Somerset, finally booking into a hotel just three miles from the start point at 10pm.
